Rare Pairings Ficathon 2006

What is this Rare pairings Ficathon?
Everyone knows the major pairings of Stargate: SG-1 and Stargate: Atlantis, but what about the rare and unconventional pairings? There are a number of them, and it's not always easy to find someone else who writes your 'ship of choice (whether het, slash, or femslash).
This is a chance to challenge the writers of the Stargate universe to write one of those rarer pairings. Stretch your 'shippy tendencies, or try to suck someone into your unconventional pairing of choice.

And yes, we know there was a sgarareathon, but that was for SGA only, and we'd like to do one one based on SGA, SG-1, or a crossover of both series.

So, the rules?
• You can request two fics that you would like written, but you will only have to write ONE story. The reason for two requests is so that everyone can be matched up appropriately, and the writers some choice with the prompts/pairings assigned to them.
• All slash, het and femslash pairings are acceptable here, except Sam/Jack, Jack/Daniel, Sheppard/Weir, and McKay/Sheppard. Why? Because the emphasis here is on rare pairings, and those are the most popular pairings in both fandoms. (This is according to the number of fics submitted to Wraithbait, Heliopolis, Area52 and the various LJ communities we've seen.)
• Fics must be a minimum of 1000 words. There is no maximum, as long as you complete them in the time alotted.
• You MAY request a crossover pairing (e.g Elizabeth/Janet, Sam/McKay) but only for ONE of your two requests.

How long do I have?
Signups from now until September 17th.
Assignments sent out by 1st October.
Completed assignments due: December 11th. (That's over 2 months! Plenty of time for 1000 words!)

Edited to include some questions we've been getting...

What about those three things I want to see in the fic I requested?
Those are promts. In other words, guidelines to get the person writing for you started. They're not required to include them all, but it's good form to try to work them in when you can.

Does Elizabeth Weir/Jack O'Neill count as a crossover request, if I specify that it's during her time commanding the SGC? Or from during the first two episodes of SGA?

For the sake of simplifying things, we would say that Elizabeth Weir and Rodney McKay count as SGA characters, and so requesting any pairing with them and an SG-1 character would be a crossover. And the same goes with SG-1 characters who have guested on SGA, such as Jack O'Neill.

Otherwise we'd have to start getting into questions of whether fics set during The Pegasus Project count as SG-1 or SGA, and who is crossing over, if at all, and if hallucinations count, and sticky things such as that.

Really, this was the best way we could come up with that a) would minimally limit crossover requests, and b) don't limit someone to writing a fic based on only one or two eps of SG1 or SGA canon. We limited crossover requests to one, as some people watch only SGA and not SG1 (or the reverse), and two crossover requests would make it more difficult to find a good match.

You can certainly make one of them a crossover request, and specify that you'd prefer a solely SGC or Atlantis-based story, however.

...and, being the unobservant dork that I am, I missed that request two was for a threesome. We limited everyone to twosomes, simply because there's an ot3+ ficthon running concurrently. Did you want to just remove one of the people from the request, or send in a whole new one? Just let us know!

Thanks so much!

Apparently LJ screwed up, because I recieved this comment by email. I'm not too sure, but now that I've slept some (as opposed to when I first saw this and I'd been up 22 straight hours) I'm fairly sure this wasn't directed at me.

*smacks LJ*

Sorry 'bout that. :(

Are you tracking this entry? Because if so, that would email you the comment.

It's likely that I screwed it up somehow, yes. >_<

Sorry... *hides*

LJ is just deeply obnoxious sometimes, and so really, there's no need to worry about it. :) We've got it all figured out, after all!

Oops - was this supposed to be for me? I just saw it when I looked here. Never got a message if it was for me.

Nope, not for you! Don't worry about it, LJ was just behaving oddly that day.
